Japan.. you’re doing it wrong!

Japan Coast Guard investigates attack on Japanese whaling ship.

I have no knowledge of maritime law aside from what I have been told. But if I was the captain the of the japanese whaling boat, I would equipment a few of my crewmen with rifles and tell them to open fire next time they see those pricks. Graze those pricks with some 5.56mm rounds.. see if they continue their bullsh1t.

Pondering age..

As I am in the initial phase of interviewing, I won’t give up a lot of details..

During an interview, I was told my resume and experience are quite desirable. In addition, someone in my age range is what they are looking for as that younger people tend to be a lot less goal oriented..

Where is Maverick now?

Negative Ghostrider, the pattern is full

Apparently flying passenger jets..

That’s pretty crazy. Look at how close to the ground the wing is as he is breaking left at around 0012.. Probably no more then 2 to 3 meters.. The pilot had to have one of two things going through his mind…

A lesson learned…

Well it was a rough weekend. Friday morning I woke up with a sinus headache and the general onset of a headcold. Throughout the day I managed to load up on echinacea, zinc and some cold/vitamin drinks and managed to eliminate the general grogginess.

Saturday morning, up bright and early with a little drainage but feeling good. Off to the station to go to work. (It’s about a 10 minute bike ride from my apartment to the station I transfer at.) I usually take a thoroughfare that isn’t a side road, but is by no means a busy road. Today was no different. At 0830 in the morning on saturday, there are not so many people up in the part of tokyo I live… with that in mind, traffic is almost non-existent. I realized that I am now not the only person to know this.

Coming down a small hill, I had a yellow light, on the verge of green. I normally slow down a tad bit in these cases just to make sure that there are no cyclers or people wanting to do the ole St. Louis stop or rush the red. Today, however, I decided it was early and no need to do it.

The man in the hat..

Growing up, one of my favorite “movie” heroes was Indiana Jones. From Raiders to the Temple of Doom and even the Grail..

From fighting nazis to fighting of mystical hindi shamans that could pull your heart out of your chest, he always managed to survive.. and in style. Learning to use a bullwhip in texas, the only thing I ever thought of was using it to swing from tree branch to tree branch (that never seems to quite work out.. damn texas mesquite…)

Anyways, check out the trailer at the official site. Looks good! Cannot wait till the May 22nd! IJ4:Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Modular living..

This is really a fabulous idea. Once this is marketed, I hope they bring it to japan. This “room in a box” idea is just great!

Room in a box
. There is a video of the “de-boxing” here.

Welcome to a police state..

The US administration is pressing the 27 governments of the European Union to sign up for a range of new security measures for transatlantic travel, including allowing armed guards on all flights from Europe to America by US airlines…

Armed guards on flights is not so bad, except when you find out your tax dollars are paying for these air marshals flights, and that they are full price tickets. The providing travelers data and threatening to change the visa requirements is just utter BS. Applying online to come to the US?? Wow.. don’t think this will effect tourism at all? Let’s help the economy by adding this ridiculously idiotic requirement to the list  of already tiresome requirements.

Why not just come out and say, “We don’t want you to come here.” People wonder why the eyes that are on the US are rolling.

Long weekend!

Finally had a holiday, in the form of a 3 day weekend. Much needed..

Friday, I went to one of the Hiltons here for a thanksgiving dinner with Momoko at a French(styled) restaurant. I originally made the choice on the basis that they were having a Thanksgiving special course. As it turns out, it was the day before, Thursday, instead of Friday (which makes sense, that is thanksgiving in the US.) Friday is a labor day holiday here, so I didn’t connect the dots. Anyways, they were having a seafood holiday special buffet. Actually, it turned out better then the thanksgiving one, as I am not a big fan of turkey. So I enjoyed a variety of fabulous sushi and cooked dishes including cod, grouper, oysters and a few french dishes that I cannot pronounce yet. The desert was amazing also! A 5 tier chocolate fondue with all the fruits you could eat. However, the highlight of the meal (besides maguro and hamachi..) was the pumpkin and pecan pie.. Perfect! Just like grandmas…

In front of the restaurant there was a chocolate covered vespa. I have yet to figure out why.

Afterwards, we met up with some of Momoko’s friends from Kyoto and partied at my place and then we went to see underworld the next night. More to come on that later.
