This seems to be a great time for people to leave japan..
I met up with Ahmad in Tokyo, Tuesday, on his way home. Fun time catching up there. Hearing about all the fun times and bullshit in Hiroshima over the last 6 months.
Friday, the aikido club from Saino high school came for another demonstration and I was able to meet up with Murakami sensei. Two hours of all you can drink and all you can eat fun followed by drunken train returns. Always a blast.
Sunday I went to a going a way party for another friend, whom is heading back to France this week. First, Sunday is a bad day to have a party, especially when it is an hour train ride away and starts at 8 pm. Anyways, my friend is a research scientist in Yokohama, perhaps the company is French or Japanese with offices in france.
The party was at a fabulous apartment that I would describe as a penthouse. Brand new building, top floor, dining room, two bedrooms, kitchen and huge patio on the roof. I am definitely working for the wrong company.
Of all the foreigners there, only two were not French, myself and an english bloke who works for the same research company. So I spent a fair amount of time drinking great wine [ there was a fabulous Bordeaux I swore I would rememberthe name of, but cannot for the life of me... ] and having prolonged conversations in French (even though I don’t know more then a few phrases..) The other half of the time I spent speaking in Japanese.
I have come to realize that my Japanese is a lot better then I thought. Perhaps I am just to humble realistic to acknowledge my level. Or perhaps when I watch TV and hear people talking and I have no clue what they are saying it knocks me into place.
Anyways, moral of this post, it is always sad departing from friends and the french I have met here are not really that bad.
