Seoul….

A bit more..

Seoul is an interesting place. It has all the amenities of a big city and a lot of the magic of the far east. The people on a whole were friendly, very friendly in fact. Communication was a bit of an issue, not a lot of people outside of the tourist district speak english. So when we weren’t able to communicate verbal everything broke down to a series of grunts and hand gestures. Due to the close proximity of Japan, a lot of koreans can speak japanese. So most of the communcation we did was in japanese, kind of funny.

General places we visited:

Dongdaemun :: Here is a huge market district. You can find anything, from clothing to doors, cooking supplies to stone bi bim bap bowls. Huge area that was fun to walk through and explore.

Yongsan :: Itaewon street is a fun place to spend a few hours. Very english friendly and a lot of foreigners here due to the US military base.

Jongno :: Several Joseon palaces are located here, including Gyeongbok Palace, Changdeok Palace, Changgyeong Palace, and Unhyeon Palace.

more to come later.

That picture is at the Joint Security Area in the DMZ. I think it is called peace hall, and was built for the signing of the peace treaty between North and South Korea, so it hasnt been used yet. On the other side of the building is where the blue barrack looking structures are, and NK on the other side.

It is a squirrel of some description.. very odd. It was in a street market.
