It is a little late in coming, but here it is: My review of Tokyo. This will be broken up into a few parts.
We left from hiroshima early on a Sunday morning via Shinkansen [ nozomi super express.] Transit time took 4 hours with a few brief stops near Osaka, Kyoto and Yokohama. I used this time to sleep.
Once we arrived in Tokyo, we headed to our hotel in Shinjuku. After navigating through Tokyo Station we finally found the correct train and platform and headed to Shinjuku.
Shinjuku is the ’seedier’ part of Tokyo. Here is where ‘Kabukichou’ is. This is where a majority of the hostess , prostitutes and strip clubs are. Pretty fun place to walk around and get a neon tan. After checking into our hotel, we decided to head to Harajuku. It is two stops from Shinjuku and interesting during the day.

Harajuku
For those not in the know, Harajuku is the street fashion capital of Japan. By street fashion I mean the really hideous multicolored striped outfits with grenglish printed on them that you will see in photos of ‘youth’ in japan. None the less, it was fun to walk around and see what these people think is cool..
Though it is hard to see here, this is next to the Harajuku station. This is where all the lolita and goth type fashion kids come and hangout. Mainly for the attention of all the gaijin asking to take there photos. On the other side of the bridge is the entrance to the MejiJingu Shrine.
Shibuya
Shibuya is a more modern district with a lot of shopping and restaurants. The main intersection is a famous one that you see in a lot movies, mass chaos.. hundreds of people crossing the intersection, fun to watch. More pictures in the flickr set.
Asakusa
I have been here before, but went again with L2. One of the most visited shrines in Tokyo and one of the most active. Very beautiful and there is a arcade in front of it that is about 150 yards long full of vendors selling everything from shoes to $15k jewelry.
more to come..
