Well I just finished reading the new Harry Potter book. Not too bad of a read, I am not for sure how I feel about it yet though.
Some spoilers follow, so if you expect me not to ruin it, you are wrong.
So here is the summary:
Harry is at is fat god-parents place a few days. Dumbledore comes and gets him. He spends the summer with the weasleys, starts to fall in love with their daughter, Ginny. Gets his wizarding test scores (OWLS), thinks we won’t be able to become an auror. They go to hogwarts. Snape is the new Defense of Dark Arts teacher and dumbledore’s friend replaced him teaching potions. He allows Harry to continue along the auror path. In potions class he finds the book that belonged to the half blood prince. Uses the notes and spells in it to excel at potions and other things. Harry is the captain of the quidditch team, puts his friends on the team. In his private lessons with Dumbledore, we learn the past of Tom Riddle/Voldemont. We also learn his weakness and Dumbledore and Harry comtemplate a plan to destroy him.
Herminowhateverthehellhername still bitches and complains about everything and is now in love with Ron.
Ron starts dating some chick and spends half his time making out with her and the other half trying to break up with her.
Malfoy is a deatheater and is trying to kill dumbledore and fails twice before Snape steps in and does it.
Snape is the HalfBlood prince. His mother was a prince (family name) and his father was a non-magic person (muggle.) Hence “half-blood Prince.”
Dumbledore is killed by Snape, not malfoy.
At the funeral Harry decides that he won’t be coming back to Hogwarts next year (probably won’t even be open.) Ron and Herminwhateverthehellitis tell him that they will follow and help him kill Voldemont no matter how long it takes. It is implied that Ron and Herminwhateverthehellitis now are a couple.
I do find it annoying that through the whole book harry is constantly saying that Snape and Malfoy are up to no good and everyone tells him he is wrong. This happens a lot, not just two or three times.
And before you say it, yes, I know its only a book.
ghey. glad i don’t read the books. for some reason i think i’ll continue to prefer the movies. not that they are all that fantastic. besides, by the time they get to this book in the movie sequence, the kids will all be like 33 years old.
Well the books are still a fun read.
i can’t read.
yeah, the new book was defintiely not a letdown, however it grew increasingly more depressing as the novel wore on.i was surprised harry broke up with ginny in the end, but i expect they’ll be back together once voldemorts out of the way (at least that’s what i’d like to think). we learn of who harry’s true friend’s are, ie, luna and neville, and our suspicions of snape and malfoy are finally revealed as you’ve said. i agree that this is not a bad read, but it defintiely ended on a downer. three more years or so for the next one…
