So for my classes this week, I am talking about stereotypes in addition to the lesson plan. This in itself is amusing.
Anyways, I am telling the students that alot of american think of japan as a samurai culture that eats sushi everyday and loves manga/anime. Everyone laughs and says how stupid that is.. I agree.
So next I ask them to give me 4 things they think of when they hear the word ‘gaijin.’
Some of the best were…
“Koreans are un-cool.”
“Americans eat potato chips and drink coke everyday.”
“Brazillians are good at soccer.”
“Koreans eat alot of kimuchi.”
“Chinese peoeple have short tempers and are bad people.”
and my favorite..
“Americans are cool because they are handsome and nice.”
awwwwwe kids say the dardnest things.
Now that I have finished my pringles and my coke, I think I go to bed.
