Something to waste a few hours with!

it begins..

Went to the theatre to see Batman Begins tonight. I have to say this was a damn good movie. The story line was really well thought out and answered a huge number of questions. I will say I am disappointed by the portrayal of a few of the cast, it was a movie though.

I am still undecided about Christian Bale.. his performance is good, but when he is batman, he talks like a 60 year old smoker with half a lung. Other then that, the scarecrow was done well and Liam Neeson did a great job.

A lot of the visuals were great, especially the tripping scenes where batman has red glowing eyes and breathes fire. Makes me want to climb a mountain in china.

Two thumbs up.. watch it in the theatre and then wait for the dvd rip to download it.

general updates

Well whats going on in your world today?

Not a lot here, work and aikido. Speaking of aikido, my shodan test will be coming up soon. Weekend of July 3rd. Good times all around. Testing will consist of people from all around Hiroshima (広島)prefecture and the testing board will consist of 7 people ( 2 shihans and 5 senseis.) With this idea in mind I have been training everyday for the past two weeks, a few times twice a day when it permits.

sterotypes

So for my classes this week, I am talking about stereotypes in addition to the lesson plan. This in itself is amusing.

Anyways, I am telling the students that alot of american think of japan as a samurai culture that eats sushi everyday and loves manga/anime. Everyone laughs and says how stupid that is.. I agree.

So next I ask them to give me 4 things they think of when they hear the word ‘gaijin.’

nothing really..

Well, the weather here (広島ーhiroshima)is starting to get hot and typhoon season official started tonight. What joy.

On a side note, there was a strong earthquake here about a week and a half ago at around 2 in the morning. By strong, maybe a mid 4 on the Richter. My first strong earthquake though. Anyways, I found it odd.. I woke about about 30 seconds before the earthquake, in time to hear all the crickets and frogs go silent about 5 seconds before the earthquake. Long enough to start to think.. “what the hell..” Then it hit. No damage or casualities, just a whole lot of shakin’ going on for about 10 seconds.. then silence for about another 10 seconds and then the all clear as signaled by the frogs and crickets. Odd…

Pulp Fiction in 30 seconds… with bunnies
