yooooooosshhh. People in japan are a bit on the weird side, especially those in the public transport field. It seems that while sitting on a train or bus or street car you will hear the conductors/drivers/attendents talking to themselves. This alone doesn’t seem to odd, but they all do it and they all babble the same phrases.. “yooooooooshhhhh” being the main one.
You will hear this on trains, buses and street cars. I have done some exhausting searches for this but I have been able to find a meaning. I have come to the conclusion this is something that is probably most similiar to the english “vrooom” noise. But then you ask why are all these people saying this to themselves.
It must break up the monotany of the job and it is just funny to hear.
Anyways, not much is going on. Aikido, jujutsu and studying the language. Jujutsu here is nothing like the bjj or mmag stuff in the states. The ground work is the same stuff as in judo and a little more, no suprise. The throws are similar to judo with a bit more emphasis on the weak points in both human anatomy and japanese armour. Meaning joint locks, pressure points and some unrealistic attack scenarios. The weapons training is really great though.
Snowboarding this last weekend was great. There were not alot of people at the resort and it was snowing all day. At times visibility was really poor (20 feet) but other then that it was nice. The resort was a mix of beginners and intermediate runs that were long enough to make it enjoyable. Not to mention a 5$ viking lunch (in japan viking is an all you can eat buffet.) I am at the point where I can turn really well and am working on short turns. L2 is progressing nicely with turning. I hope we can fit in 1 more trip before the years end as the season normally ends in two weeks here.
J.K. Rowling is a a$$h4t. If you do not know who she is, she is responsible for the Harry Potter series and for me rarely leaving the house over the past week and a half as I read the five books that are out. In all actuality I really liked the books. Too much, as I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning reading them. Anyways, I actually recommend them to everyone. The only problem being now I have to wait for the 6th and 7th books to come out, which will be quite some time. Ugh, anticipation! Back to Neil Stephenson’s Baroque Cycle….
